Creative Arts Fest Cabin Fever 2017

I really enjoyed teaching two classes, Moroccan Lantern Beads and Fishy Fish, at Creative Arts Fest Cabin Fever 2017.  We had a great time and I would like to thank the companies that sponsored both classes.
Polyform® provided all of the clay.  They gave each student premo! Sculpey® in wonderful colors;  Zinc Yellow, Cobalt Blue, Fuchsia, Purple, white, and black.

Makin’s Clay® provided each class with cutters, the 3pc Flower Cutter set for the bead class and the 4pc Heart Cutter set for the fish class.

SureHold® provided SureHold Plastic Surgery® Super Gel which is wonderful to work with since it is a gel and does not run everywhere.  It glues cured clay to cured clay or raw clay to cured clay.

Tandy Leather® provided leather stamps to texture both the beads and the fish.  If you haven’t checked out their tools, you should.  We used Mulefoot stamps to put scales on our fish.

Makin’s Clay® Bookmarks

I love bookmarks and I love Makin’s Clay® Black and Neon Colors of clay!

These bookmarks were so simple to make.  I just made a sheet of black clay on a thin setting of the Makin’s Professional® Ultimate Clay Machine® and then sheets of the neon colors on an even thinner setting.  I used Makin’s Clay® Flower Cutters to cut out flowers and a Kemper circle cutter for tiny dots.   The flowers and dots were placed all over the black sheet before running it back through the clay machine.

I cut bookmarks from the sheet then added an extra flower to each.  I made the flower by using each of the flower cutters to cut different size flowers from the colored sheets.  I stacked the different sizes and colors, finished each with a circle center and pressed the flower to the bookmark.  Even with the extra flower, the bookmarks are nice and thin and fit easily into a book.

Now, I’m gonna go put the bookmarks in my clay books on all of the projects I want to try!

New Brush Handle Using Makin's Clay

I’ve had this hair brush for more than 30 years.  Unfortunately, the handle has disintegrated.  The brush is my favorite and I’m just not ready to give it up.  Now it has a new handle thanks to Makin’s Clay®!

I used the left over Makin’s Clay® from my Faux Turquoise project.   I just made a log out of the left over clay, inserted it into the Makin’s Professional® Ultimate Clay Extruder®, used the #3 disc, extruded a rope of clay, wrapped it around the brush handle, and let dry.

Because Makin’s Clay® is a no bake clay, the brush did not have to go into the oven once the clay was applied to the handle.  I was able to save my favorite brush and I love the new turquoise handle!

Glow-in-the-Dark Doorknob Flowers

I created these doorknob flowers using Glow-in-the-Dark Makin’s Clay® and the 5-pc Flower Cutter set.  I wanted my visitors to be able to see where their room was in case they needed to get up in the middle of the night.  The flowers are not only cute during the day but are helpful at night!

I used Makin’s Clay® Flower cutter set to make the large flowers and to cut out the centers of each flower.
The smaller flowers were made using Kemper cutters.

They fit perfectly over the doorknob.  The sun charges them during the day.

And, they glow at night!

Makin’s Clay® Wine Glass Charms

Hosting a party for the holidays?  Then, why not make your own wine glass charms?  These were quick and easy to make.

These charms were made from Green Makin’s Clay® and Makin’s Clay® cutters then decorated with glitter.  Once the glitter was dried, I drilled a hole at the top of each tree with a pin vise, added a jump ring, and then put them on earring hoops with beads to complete the wine glass charm.
Makin’s Clay® offers many different styles and sizes of cutters.  Doves, Santas, and bells are justa few for the holiday season.  They also have cutters that come in larger sets with lots of choices for lots of occasions.  Check them out here:

Quick and Easy Gift Tags

Recently, I wrote a tutorial, Snowflake Ornament, where I covered a plastic ornament with a sheet of Makin’s Clay® and snowflakes punched out of the same clay.  Once I was finished with the project, I had several left over snowflakes and clay so I made these cute gift tags.

I cut the tags out of the clay with a Sizzix® and the Sizzix® Tag Set die.  The snowflakes were cut out using EK Success® paper punches.  I glued the punches down to the tags with Beacon® Tacky Glue.

Big-Eyed Cat

With Halloween coming soon, I think my Big-Eyed Cat may have seen a ghost or two!

Big-Eyed Cat by Lisa Haney

He is made from white Makin’s® Clay and painted with Reeves® Oil Paint.  I was going to make him a black cat but since I have two orange cats I made him orange.
